Berlin police statement over the Nazi-style uniform

As per the statement by Berlin Police, “We are investigating on suspicion of incitement to public hatred because the clothing worn on stage could be used to glorify or justify Nazi rule.

It is thereby irritating the public peace,” police spokesman Martin Halweg told AFP, and it was also confirmed in an earlier report by Jewish News.

Halweg also said that “The clothing resembles the clothing of an SS officer.” Let me tell you that Waters is a very famous pro-Palestinian activist. He has also been accused of holding anti-Jewish views. According to news media, he floated an inflatable pig emblazoned with the Star of David at his performance.

Waters has played in several German cities in his “This Is Not A Drill” tour event. This act has been hugely controversial in some cities. Local officials are also trying to ban him from performing.

On the other side of the story, the singer denied the anti-Semitism accusations against Jewish People, saying that he was protesting against Israeli policies. At the recent Berlin concert, Waters also showed the names of several deceased people on a large screen, including that of Anne Frank, and the Jewish teenager who died in a Nazi concentration camp.

Shireen Abu Akleh, a murdered Palestinian-American journalist, was also mentioned, leading to accusations that Waters was downplaying the Holocaust.

Roger Waters performed in Berlin, desecrating the memory of Anne Frank and the approx 6 million Jews murdered in the Holocaust,” as Israel’s foreign ministry tweeted on Twitter earlier this week. And that’s why, Waters is due to play his final German concert in the western city of Frankfurt on Sunday evening. Whereas the protesters are planning to demonstrate outside the venue.

At the same time, the Frankfurt local authorities sought to cease the concert but a court ruled against them, citing artistic freedom. Official Uwe Becker, the anti-Semitism commissioner for the German state of Hesse, allegedly promoted “hatred and incitement against Israel” through his performances, according to the Frankfurter Rundschau newspaper.
