Google Bard vs. ChatGPT

Google Bard was not initially open for access in India. But, recently, Google Bard launched in India, and now Indians can also use Bard and try to figure out its features, especially comparing them with ChatGPT.

So, this whole tussle between Google Bard and ChatGPT is not something new but has been ongoing since February, when Google announced the Bard AI chatbot for the first time.

And, now when Google Bard launched in India, everyone is talking about Bard overpowering the ChatGPT.

Thus, after using both language-generative AI chatbots, here is our analysis of Google Bard vs. ChatGPT.

We can tell you in advance, though; it’s not a lose-lose situation. Both language-processing chatbots have their advantages and disadvantages as of now.

It is not a clean sweep in most ways.

Also, we can’t forget that both platforms are currently evolving and in a state of many changes and transformations.

So, here are our two cents on which features are better in Google Bard and ChatGPT and what can be done differently with both AI tools:

Real-time information:

Google Bard has the upper hand in comparison to ChatGPT, as it can extract real-time information for users. Also, to let you know, there’s an extra feature of “Google it” provided in the Bard, making it easy-breezy for you to find information if you are not able to get the same from the tool itself.

 

However, when it comes to real-time information, according to our experiences, the information provided by the Bard, especially the latest news or information, can’t be trusted blindly right now.

For example, when we were prompted about the latest Taylor Swift news in Google Bard, it showed us some of the latest but most of the old pieces of information about the singer.

And, when it comes to ChatGPT, this feature is not in their framework right now. When we made the same prompt in this AI chatbot, it showed us something like this:

“I’m sorry, but as an AI language model, I don’t have access to real-time news updates. My training only goes up until September 2021, so I cannot provide the latest world news. I recommend checking reliable news sources such as news websites, television news channels, or social media platforms to get the most up-to-date information on current world events.”

 

So, comparatively, Google Bard is slightly ahead of ChatGPT in this case. It has a “Google it” feature, allowing you to access the internet with the Generative AI, but the same is not possible with ChatGPT yet.

Enlisting resources:

Another metric that we used to try to figure out the tilting weight of Google Bard vs. ChatGPT was whether these tools could help us find credible resources.

For example, we made a prompt on the top lifestyle publications with their links, and here’s what we found on Google Bard:

And, here’s what we found on ChatGPT-

So, in this case, there was a tie for us. Both platforms provided good resources for our prompts. However, Google Bard was a bit faster and more in-depth than ChatGPT—at least, that’s what we felt and came across.

Moreover, as both AI chatbots are continually evolving and changing, these features and their responses to them can’t be said to be set in stone.

Incorrect information:

Well, according to our prompts and the time we invested in both of the generative AI tools, we can say that the probability of incorrect information is somewhere present with both platforms.

And that’s not something that should shock you. Both platforms show you the consent dialogue box in advance, alerting you about the current limitations of both AI tools.

Saved history access:

In the case of ChatGPT, you can not only save the prompt responses generated but also access them in the left-side menu. However, this feature is a bit different when it comes to Google Bard AI.

There’s a “Bard Activity” option available along the left side of the platform, which redirects you to a different window. From where you can access all your previous prompts and responses. Plus, it allows you to auto-delete your tool history.

Other highlighted features:

This tug of war can be seen as a bit tilted towards Google Bard if we take its voice prompts and the ability to export your prompts into Google Docs and Gmail into consideration.

These cool and handy attributes are not yet available with ChatGPT, making it a bit less advanced than Google Bard AI. Besides, one of the biggest strengths of Bard that we realized was also its speed, making this go in its favor by a hair.

Yes, we also found Google Bard to be more speedy than ChatGPT.

Eventually, it can be a bit early to pass any ultimate judgment on Google Bard vs. ChatGPT. As we have shown above, both platforms have their strengths and weaknesses.

And, most importantly, both AI tools are going through a lot of changes. So, there’s a lot to come in the future, and things can turn around completely differently than we are perceiving them right now.

But now that Google Bard has launched in India and other 180 countries, people have a lot of time in their hands to analyze and comprehend the functioning and expertise of both language-processing chatbots.
