We all often face traffic jams on our way to work or traveling during the holidays. But, have you ever heard about a traffic jam in a forest, that too, for over 70 years? This sounds bizarre and untrue! Right? But, what if we tell you about the Chatillon car graveyard in Belgium?

The images that you are going to see below are not from some film set or fabricated in any which way, but are real images of abandoned cars in a Belgian forest.

In a tiny forest near Chatillon in South Belgium, there used to be a graveyard for abandoned vehicles. According to the rumors, these abandoned and rusted vehicles (in the images below) belonged to American forces stationed in South Belgium during World War II.

It is said that the military personnel chose to bury the vehicles in this woodland after the war because they couldn’t ship the vehicles home with them. After that, additional vehicles had been added to this spooky and eerie collection.

Over the years, following many reports, many of these abandoned vehicles from the Chatillon car graveyard had been stolen by the locals and car collectors, and the whole graveyard was completely removed in 2010 due to various environmental reasons.

The Chatillon Car Graveyard In Belgium Became Very Popular:

Yes, the Chatillon car graveyard in Belgium became very popular at the time. Unfortunately, over time, the vehicles had been worn down by corrosion and decomposition, although gave a unique location for photographers and filmmakers around the world.

According to the local news, in an effort to clean up the Chatillon car graveyard area, the majority of the cars were removed in 2009.

But, a Belgian horror film titled “Welp” about a group of people who get lost in the woods and are slain by a serial killer and his kid who reside under the auto graveyard was filmed there in the year 2014.

The Chatillon Car Graveyard Has Been Subjected To Many Spooky Tales:

Many people say that the vines of the foliage and the branches of trees that grew in the cars that are twisted around and broke the metals made this traffic jam that was stuck in Belgium Forest for more than 70 years. And the real story that happened behind this car cemetery was more intriguing and appeared to be creepy.

Additionally, there are similarities to shiny toy skeletons, and what’s weird is that the car appears to have been abandoned in a hurry.

There are thousands of such tales and horror stories you can hear about the Belgium car graveyard even now.
