An ongoing outbreak of monkeypox, a viral disease, was confirmed in May 2022
Monkeypox is a zoonotic viral disease, an infectious disease transmitted to humans by animals. The Monkeypox virus belongs to the Orthopoxvirus genus.
It causes flu-like symptoms such as fever and chills, and a rash that can take weeks to clear.
There's no proven treatment for monkeypox, but it usually goes away on its own
Early Signs - Fever, Chills, Headache, Muscle Aches, Fatique, Swollen Lymph Nodes etc.
There are no treatments specifically for monkeypox virus infections
. However, monkeypox and smallpox viruses are treated via vaccines
Does Monkeypox Cause Death?
The less severe West African clade is causing the current world outbreak (2022).
No one has died from this outbreak to date
. But, monkeypox can lead to other problems
The initial cluster of cases was found in the United Kingdom.
